On August 19, 2026, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit, with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, Investigation Services, Patrol Services, and Traffic Services, charged 20-year-old Austyn Taylor with unauthorized possession of a firearm and other offences.
Around 6:15 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Allen’s Side Road following an investigation into the accused. Upon searching the residence, officers located a handgun loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, as well as 46 separate rounds of ammunition, all of which were stored in a manner contrary to regulations. The accused was arrested.

- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition x2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x3
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x4
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
