School Zone Traffic Safety Blitz
On September 3 and 4, 2025, members of Traffic Services conducted a School Zone Safety Blitz in school zones throughout Sault Ste. Marie.
In total, officers conducted 20 traffic stops and issued 26 tickets under both the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, including:
- Speeding 1 – 49 km/h Over Posted Limit x15
- Disobey Sign
- Fail to Notify Change of Address – Licence
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence x2
- Fail to Surrender Licence
- No Insurance Card x6
Sault Police are reminding the community that speed limits within designated school zones are 40 km/hr and are enforced 24/7, regardless of school hours. Speed fines are also doubled in school zones. Motorists and cyclists must prepare to stop for school buses when amber lights are flashing and come to a complete stop 20 metres away when the red lights are flashing and the stop sign is activated. Motorists and cyclists must also obey crossing guards.
