Approved by: 1030 - October 31, 2023

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Board congratulate Robert ‘Bob’ MacLachlan, Deputy Chief, on his retirement from the Sault Police.

Hired January 2019, Bob’s contribution to the Sault Police is immeasurable. His advocacy for the members of Sault Police is unmatched. With more than 40 years of policing experience, Sault Police is fortunate to benefit from Deputy Chief MacLachlan’s knowledge and experience to further the service’s initiatives, both internally and externally.

“I want to thank the people of Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township for welcoming me to their community and allowing me to serve them since 2019,” says Deputy Chief MacLachlan.

“Since my appointment, I have pursued advancements in community safety and strived to advance community safety in all aspects. It has been the thrill of my career to serve as Deputy Chief and thank the Police Services Board for allowing me the honour of this post. I feel as a Senior Command team, we have steered the service to prepare for the future with an increased compliment of officers and technological advances.”

The search for Deputy Chief MacLachlan’s successor begins today. A third-party vendor will lead the robust search. The new Deputy will be named and appointed in January 2024
