One Charged with Firearm Offences, Eight Others Arrested on Warrants
On March 13, 2024, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Bail Compliance Unit, Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services, charged 30-year-old Joseph Boyer with several firearm offences. Eight other individuals were arrested on warrants.
On March 13, 2024, detectives entered into a firearms investigation and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Albert Street East shortly before midnight. 32 individuals were located inside the residence and placed under investigative detention.
A search of the residence located a loaded, sawed-off shotgun belonging to the accused.
Eight others had warrants for their arrest, and they were arrested on the strength of their individual warrants.
The other 23 individuals found inside the residence were released unconditionally.
The accused is charged with:
- Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x6
- Careless Storage of Firearm or Ammunition x2
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2
This accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
