One Charged with Assault
On March 27, 2024, officers with Patrol Services, with assistance from the Anishinabek Police Service, charged 30-year-old Tanya Chakasim with assault.
On March 8, 2024, 911 Communicators received a report of the accused being violent in the 200 block of Wellington Street West. Although the accused left prior to officers’ arrival, investigation revealed the accused had punched one person and pulled the hair of another. Both victims are known to the accused and sustained minor physical injuries. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.
On March 27, 2024, officers with the Anishinabek Police Service located the accused during an unrelated call for service and arrested them on the strength of a Sault Ste. Marie Police Service warrant. Custody of the accused was turned over to Sault Police.
