Cocaine, Fentanyl, and Cash Seized in Joint Investigation
On March 31, 2024, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit, Investigation Services, Patrol Services, and the Ontario Provincial Police, charged 24-year-old Riley Bisson-Miller with possession of schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking after seizing an estimated $80,000 in suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
In October 2023, detectives entered into an investigation involving the distribution of large quantities of cocaine. Search warrants were obtained for four residences: in the 400 block of Parliament Street, the 100 block of Edmonds Avenue, the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue, and the 200 block of McNabb Street.
Around 6:45 p.m. on March 31, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop of the accused which resulted in their arrest. A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of approximately 54 grams of suspected cocaine packaged in numerous small bags. The accused was lodged in police custody while officers safely and successfully executed search warrants of the four residences.
During the search of the residences, officers located and seized approximately 725 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, weigh scales, and $53,300 in Canadian currency. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $80,000.
Four people were taken into custody while officers investigated. Three were released unconditionally.
The accused is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x2
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The accused was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court and released on bail.
“This arrest is a small victory in our ongoing battle against those profiting from addiction,” says Hugh Stevenson, Chief of Police. “The success of this operation is a testament to the dedication of our officers and, though significant, is merely a step in our relentless efforts to hold traffickers accountable and make our community safer.”
