Aggravated Assault Charge Laid
On March 14, 2024, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit and Bail Compliance Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services, charged 37-year-old Michael Finch with aggravated assault.
On September 7, 2023, 911 Communicators received a report of an assault in the 100 block of Albert Street East. Investigation revealed the accused had assaulted the victim, who is known to them, with a hammer and a metal pipe, causing severe physical injuries. The victim was transported to hospital and an arrest warrant was obtained for the accused.
On March 14, 2024, detectives executed an unrelated search warrant in the 100 block of Albert Street and located the accused inside the residence. They were arrested on the strength of a warrant.
