Two Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm at ATRC
On January 26, 2025, officers with Patrol Services charged 34-year-old Jonathan Briault-Dewar (hereafter referred to as the first accused) and 30-year-old Brandon Wyatt (hereafter referred to as the second accused) with assault causing bodily harm.
On January 23, 2025, 911 Communicators received a report of an assault at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre (ATRC) which had occurred the previous day. An investigation revealed the two accused were involved in a verbal dispute with the victim when the second accused struck the victim multiple times with their hands and feet. The first accused then struck the victim in the head with a closed fist. The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to hospital.
On January 26, 2025, officers attended the ATRC and arrested both accused.
The first accused is charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The second accused is charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
Both accused continue to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
