Search Warrant Executed – Drugs, Weapons and Stolen Property Seized

On May 30, 2024, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, Investigation Services, and Patrol Services, charged six individuals with a multitude of offences.

Around 5:40 p.m., detectives executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Wellington Street West. Officers with the Emergency Services Unit located and arrested six individuals within the residence: 43-year-old Thomas Atkinson, 26-year-old Alyssa Colasacco, 40-year-old Robert Day, 54-year-old John Giuliani, 43-year-old Amy Leonard, and 33-year-old Andrew Petts.

Once the residence was cleared, a search located approximately 404 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 61 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 9 grams of suspected cocaine, $9,899 in Canadian currency, drug packaging material, weigh scales, a replica handgun, ammunition, and a $3,200 guitar reported stolen from a local business. The estimated street value of drugs seized is $67,683. A search of each of the accused also found one of them to be in possession of a firearm.

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carry Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition in Careless Manner
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court x3

26-year-old Alyssa Colasacco is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

40-year-old Robert Day is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

This accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

54-year-old John Giuliani is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

This accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

43-year-old Amy Leonard is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

This accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

33-year-old Andrew Petts is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x4
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2

Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Crime Suppression Unit (CSU)

Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Crime Suppression Unit work cooperatively to investigate all aspects of investigations involving drug matters, organized crime, human trafficking, high risk offenders and street crime within the jurisdiction of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The Units also work on special projects targeting drug matters and street level crimes and take part in joint enforcement projects with other agencies across the province. Some of the assigned officers also have mandated responsibilities provincially to assist with investigations throughout the province involving Outlaw Motorcycle gangs (BEU), asset forfeiture (PAFU) and intelligence (CISO).
