Sault Police Help Train Anishinabek Police Officer

Approved by: 1030 - March 22, 2024

The Anishinabek Police Service and Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are proud to announce a training partnership.

Beginning March 22, 2024, Constable Al Nolan will be partnered with a coach officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

For the next three months, Constable Nolan will be supporting Sault Police by answering calls for service in the City of Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for our new officer to gain valuable experience answering emergency calls,” says Chief Jeff Skye of the Anishinabek Police Service. “We thank the Sault Police for helping us prepare our members for a career in policing.”

“The Anishinabek Police is always eager to help us when we reach out for support,” says Inspector Derek Dewar. “We are happy to play a role in the development of their members and ensure they gain knowledge from an experienced member of the Sault Police. Information sharing and relationship building will help both organizations as we collaborate moving forward.”

Since 2012, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has hosted seven officers from other police agencies. This includes members from the Anishinabek Police Service, Batchewana First Nation Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
