Prohibited Driver Found Driving Stolen Motorcycle, Charged

On July 18, 2024, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit, Canine Unit, Patrol Services, and Investigation Services, charged 29-year-old Jesse Thorne with operation while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime, and several other offences.

Around 10:00 p.m., detectives patrolling the 100 block of Alexandra Street saw the accused, who is prohibited from driving, operating a motorcycle which had been reported stolen. When detectives conducted a traffic stop, the accused ran into a residence which did not belong to them and locked the door. They refused to come out. The Emergency Services Unit was called to assist.

Officers with the Emergency Services Unit gained access to the residence in which the accused had locked themselves, and they were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000
  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
  • Driving While Under Suspension (Under the Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
