One Charged with Robbery

On December 29, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 29-year-old Brandon Murphy with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a robbery in progress at a business in the 0-100 block of Queen Street West. As the accused had run from the business prior to officers’ arrival, officers were dispatched to the area. Officers located the accused, who matched the description of the suspect, around Cathcart Street and Gloucester Street. They were arrested. A search of the accused located stolen Canadian currency and a screwdriver.

An investigation revealed the accused had brandished a screwdriver in front of employees while demanding money. The accused then took the money and ran. No physical injuries were reported.

The accused is charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
