One Charged with Operation While Impaired, Dangerous Operation
On February 25, 2025, officers with Patrol Services charged 41-year-old Steven Waboose of Batchewana, Ontario, with operation while impaired and dangerous operation.
Around 1:20 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a driver in a parking lot in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard who had gotten out of their vehicle to visit a business and appeared to be impaired. Officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located the driver and, upon observing and speaking with them, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs. They were arrested.
The accused was transported to the Police Services Building where they were evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). The evaluation determined the accused was under the influence of drugs.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 24, 2025.
