One Charged with Operation While Impaired After Travelling in Wrong Direction on Three Streets

Approved by: 1030 - October 28, 2024

On October 26, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 40-year-old Curvel Mitchell with operation while impaired.

Around 1:50 a.m., officers on general patrol saw a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on a one-way section of Queen Street East. They then saw the vehicle travel in the wrong direction on a one-way section of Pim Street and in the wrong direction on Bay Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

Upon speaking with the driver, who was identified as the accused, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested. The accused was transported to the Police Services Building where they provided multiple breath samples – all of which registered above the legal limit.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on November 25, 2024.
