One Charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation While Impaired After Collision
On November 12, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 31-year-old Benjamin Katajamaki with operation while impaired and dangerous operation.
Around 12:30 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a motor vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a car in the area of Wellington Street West and Conmee Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the scene where they noticed significant damage was sustained by the entire car, as well as by the front of the truck.
Upon speaking with the driver of the truck, who identified themselves as the accused, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device, all of which registered above the legal limit.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
- Dangerous Operation
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on December 9, 2024.
