Approved by: 1030 - April 17, 2024

On April 15, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 26-year-old Tiffany Betournay with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, uttering threats, indecent acts, and several other offences.

Around 8:00 a.m., 911 Communicators received reports of an unwanted person in the 200 block of Wellington Street West who was damaging property and threatening people in the area.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak with the accused. The accused grabbed an umbrella and pointed it at officers in a threatening way. Officers told the accused to drop the umbrella several times, but the accused ran toward officers with it raised. Officers safely gained physical control of the accused, and they were arrested.

Further investigation revealed prior to officers’ arrival, the accused had exposed their genitalia to multiple people, urinated on property, and caused a disturbance by screaming at and threatening victims. No physical injuries were sustained.

The accused is charged with:

  • Assault Peace Officer with Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Indecent Act
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Uttering Threats x2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 10, 2024.
