One Charged After Two Firearms Seized
On November 15, 2024, detectives with Investigation Services, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services, charged 26-year-old Nicholas Berto with several firearm offences.
Around 12:40 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of someone with a firearm in the 2100 block of Queen Street East. Officers were dispatched to the residence, where they contained the scene. When the accused exited the residence, officers proceeded to clear the residence, along with a camper trailer, to ensure they were safe and secure. In doing so, officers saw firearms inside the trailer.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant to search the residence and trailer for firearms and ammunition. A search of the trailer located a loaded handgun and a shotgun. The accused was arrested.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court. They were remanded.
