More Than $95k Drugs Seized in Robin Street Search Warrant

On September 21, 2024, detectives with the Drug Enforcement Unit and Crime Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, and Patrol Services, charged 36-year-old Jessy Lavigne with three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

In July of 2024, detectives began a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation into the accused. As a result of this investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 0-100 block of Robin Street on September 21, 2024. The accused was located inside and arrested.

A search of the residence located approximately 328 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 267 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 205 grams of suspected cocaine, $190 in Canadian currency, weigh scales, and packaging materials. The total estimated street value of drugs seized is $96,634.

The accused is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

The accused was held in custody pending an appearance in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court and was subsequently released with conditions. They are scheduled to appear in court on October 28, 2024.


Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Crime Suppression Unit (CSU)

Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Crime Suppression Unit work cooperatively to investigate all aspects of investigations involving drug matters, organized crime, human trafficking, high risk offenders and street crime within the jurisdiction of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The Units also work on special projects targeting drug matters and street level crimes and take part in joint enforcement projects with other agencies across the province. Some of the assigned officers also have mandated responsibilities provincially to assist with investigations throughout the province involving Outlaw Motorcycle gangs (BEU), asset forfeiture (PAFU) and intelligence (CISO).
