Additional Charge Laid in October 2024 Impaired Incident
On January 22, 2025, officers with Patrol Services charged 44-year-old Melanie Tomatuk with operation while impaired in relation to an incident on October 24, 2024.
On October 24, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged the accused with operation while impaired (drug and/or alcohol) and possession of a schedule I substance after they were found asleep at the wheel of their vehicle, failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, and found to be in possession of small quantities of suspected fentanyl and cocaine. The accused was then read a blood demand and transported to hospital to have blood samples taken.
On January 4, 2025, officers received the toxicology report which determined the accused did have above-legal limits of drugs in their system. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.
On January 22, 2025, officers were alerted the accused was in custody of the Ontario Provincial Police. Officers attended the 700 block of Great Northern Road and arrested the accused.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired (Blood Drug Concentration)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 17, 2025.
