One Found Asleep at Wheel, Charged with Operation While Impaired
On August 14, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Michael Bell with operation while impaired.
Around 3:20 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of someone asleep at the wheel of a motor vehicle in the 600 block of Trunk Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene where they located the driver, later identified as the accused, asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle which was in drive.
Officers woke up the driver and, upon speaking with them, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device, all of which registered above the legal limit. They were arrested.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on September 16, 2024.
