One Found Asleep at Wheel, Charged with Operation While Impaired
On July 7, 2024, officers with Patrol Services charged 36-year-old Mackenzie Hill of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, with operation while impaired.
Around 1:30 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a driver asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle in the area of Queen Street East and Dacey Road. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the vehicle in the middle of the roadway with the driver asleep inside. Officers woke the accused and, upon speaking with them, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested.
The accused provided multiple breath samples to a qualified technician and all registered above the legal limit.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, 2024.
