One Charged with Operation While Impaired, Dangerous Operation
On March 29, 2025, officers with Patrol Services charged 54-year-old Chris Martin with operation while impaired, dangerous operation, and refusal to comply with a breath demand.
Around 1:45 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of an erratic driver in the area of Pim Street and Queen Street who had been driving at a high rate of speed and struck several traffic signs. They also received a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the 800 block of Queen Street East. Officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, which had driven over a curb and struck a utility pole.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested. Officers read the accused a demand for a breath sample, and the accused refused to provide one.
The accused is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Dangerous Operation
- Refusal to Comply with Demand
- Fail to Notify Change of Address – Licence (under the Highway Traffic Act)
- Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero (under the Highway Traffic Act)
- Novice Driver – Refuse to Provide Breath Sample (under the Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2025.
