One Charged with Fraud, Theft, Possession of Drugs

On August 7, 2024, detectives with Investigation Services charged 38-year-old Marissa Takacs with fraud, theft, and several drug offences.

On October 26, 2023, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was notified of an investigation into the accused by their employer. The investigation revealed the accused had fraudulently accessed personal information of 57 patients to dispense controlled substances while employed at a local healthcare facility.

Detectives investigated further and discovered the accused had fraudulently dispensed and took possession of one Percocet tablet, two diazepam injections, three lorazepam injections, two OxyContin tablets, six Supeudol tablets, four Statex tablets, and 696 Dilaudid injections between June and October of 2023.

Around 2:45 p.m. on August 7, 2024, the accused attended the Police Services Building. They were arrested.

The accused is charged with:

  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance x6
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on October 21, 2024.
