One Charged with Fraud and Theft
On March 20, 2025, detectives with the Fraud Unit charged 51-year-old Robert Sharpe of Echo Bay, Ontario, with fraud and theft.
On November 14, 2024, detectives began investigating two reports of fraud and theft involving the accused. An investigation revealed the accused had fraudulently sold items to two victims in September of 2024. The accused cashed the victims’ cheques—valued at $4,900 and $2,599—but never delivered the items they had purchased.
On March 20, 2025, detectives located and arrested the accused. The accused is charged with:
• Fraud – Under $5,000 x2
• Theft – Under $5,000 x2
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2025.
