On August 15, 2024, officers with Patrol Services, with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, and Investigation Services, charged 32-year-old Eric Day with aggravated assault.

Around 7:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to St. Mary’s River Drive to assist with an ambulance call. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive victim who appeared to have sustained serious physical injuries. The victim was transported to hospital and is in critical condition.

A search of the area located the accused, who matched the description of the suspect, near St. Mary’s River Drive and Bay Street. They were arrested.

An investigation revealed the accused and the victim, who had met for the first time that evening on the boardwalk, got into a verbal argument which turned physical. The accused had kicked the victim, causing them to fall on the street, and then stomped on their head.

The accused is charged with aggravated assault and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is urged to contact Detective Constable Corey Brown at (705) 949-6300 ext. 359.
