One Charged After Attempt to Fraudulently Cash Cheque
On March 19, 2025, officers with Patrol Services charged 39-year-old Dustin Motruk with fraud, possession of property obtained by crime, and cause or attempt to use a forged document.
Around 5:00 p.m. on March 12, 2025, 911 Communicators received a report of a personal cheque being stolen from a victim’s residence. It was reported a suspect was attempting to cash the cheque in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road.
An investigation revealed the accused was in possession of a cheque which had been stolen from the 0-100 block of Gravelle Street, forged an endorsement signature, and attempted to cash it for $2,755. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.
On March 19, 2025, officers located and arrested the accused. The accused is charged with:
- Fraud – Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
- Cause or Attempt to Use Forged Document
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2025.
