Firearm Safety
Many in Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township are avid outdoor enthusiasts. Some of them own firearms. There are several things you need to consider when you own a firearm.
- All firearms must be locked and stored appropriately and separate from ammunition.
- You must maintain a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) to legally be in possession of a firearm
- Consider storing all firearms in a gun storage unit to heighten security.
Our Service is dedicated to enhancing public safety by enforcing the provisions of the Firearms Act and the Criminal Code which govern the possession, transportation, use and storage of firearms.
If you are looking to dispose of a firearm please notify the Service by calling 705-949-6300. Do not bring firearms into the front door of the Police Services Building. Leave it locked securely in your vehicle and speak to an officer. They will provide you with the information required to legally dispose of a firearm.
