22 Charges Laid After One Found with Stolen Firearm
On August 8, 2024, detectives with Investigation Services, with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, and Patrol Services, charged 27-year-old Waasmo Bradford with numerous firearm offences.
On August 7, 2024, detectives began investigating the theft of a firearm and ammunition from a vehicle in the 300 block of Bay Street.
On August 8, detectives executed a search warrant in the 0-100 block of Cathcart Street. The accused was located inside the residence and attempted to run from police. They were arrested a short distance from the residence.
A search of the residence located ammunition and several other items, all of which were stolen from the vehicle. The stolen firearm was located outside as the accused had dropped it while they were attempting to run away.
The accused is charged with:
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition x3
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition x2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x4
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x8
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
