On September 1, 2026, officers with Patrol Services charged a 13-year-old with assault, assault with a weapon, administering a noxious thing, and other offences.
Around 5:30 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of John Street. Officers were dispatched to the scene. An investigation revealed the accused youth had punched an adult victim multiple times and sprayed them with bear spray. At the time of the assault, the victim was attempting to defend a youth known to the accused. The victim sustained minor physical injuries.
Around 7:15 p.m., the accused attended the Police Services Building and was arrested. The accused is charged with:
- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Administer Noxious Thing
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on November 17, 2026.
