Special Constables are civilian employees who are appointed by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Special Constables are valued members of our team. They carry out a variety of duties, including courtroom security, security of accused parties, court access control and prisoner transportation.
Our Special Constables are able to learn how the Court system works, and the role Police Services have in that system. Currently the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service employs approximately 14 Special Constables.
