Officers are no longer on scene in the area of Chapple Avenue and Albion Street following a lengthy search after receiving reports of a man in the area with a rifle.

Officers with Patrol Services, Investigation Services, the Emergency Services Unit and the Canine Unit attended the area. A lengthy search and canine track did not locate anyone matching the description of the person from the initial report. At this time, no firearms have been located.

One man is in custody, however he was wanted in connection with an unrelated matter.

Officers continue to investigate this incident and police urge anyone with information to contact Sault Ste. Marie Police using 9-1-1 in cases of emergency or 705-949-6300 in order to provide information.
