On August 23, 2026, officers with Patrol Services, with assistance from detectives with Investigation Services, charged 20-year-old Jayvyn Battle with pointing a firearm and other offences.
Around 8:30 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a disturbance at a business in the 600 block of Second Line West. Officers were dispatched to the business. An investigation revealed a suspect – later identified as the accused – had pointed a firearm at a victim and verbally threatened them before leaving the scene in a vehicle. The victim and accused were not known to one another.
Officers located a vehicle parked on Fairview Avenue that matched the description of the one driven by the accused. The accused was located in the area of the vehicle and was arrested. The vehicle was seized and a search warrant was obtained. A BB gun and BB ammunition were located inside the vehicle.
The accused is charged with:
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
