One Charged with Operation While Impaired, Dangerous Operation

On January 24, 2026, officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Matthew Boissoneau with operation while impaired, dangerous operation, and several other offences.

Around 2:15 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Trunk Road and Boundary Road. No physical injuries were reported. Officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, witnesses pointed out the vehicle believed to have caused the collision, which was parked on Adeline Avenue. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, it drove away. In doing so, it failed to stop at a stop sign.

Officers successfully conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the 100 block of Frontenac Street. Upon speaking with the driver, who identified as the accused, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested.

The accused was transported to the Police Services Building where they provided multiple breath samples to a qualified technician, all of which registered above the legal limit.

The accused is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure to Stop After Accident
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Fail to Display Two Plates (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive with Window Coated – View Obstructed (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to Yield from Private Road (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle (under the Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card (under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 2, 2026.
