On January 26, 2026, officers with the Division 2 Unit, with assistance from Patrol Services, charged 51-year-old Michael Currie with break and enter, mischief, and several other offences.
Around 12:10 p.m. on January 17, 2026, 911 Communicators received a report of a break and enter at a business in the 200 block of Wellington Street West which had occurred around 5:00 a.m. that morning. Officers were dispatched to the business. An investigation revealed the accused had broken into the business, damaged property, and stolen property before fleeing the scene.
Around 11:40 a.m. on January 18, 2026, 911 Communicators received a report of an attempted break and enter at the same business which had occurred around 8:30 a.m. that morning. An investigation revealed the accused had returned to the business and unsuccessfully attempted to break in again.
On January 26, 2026, officers located and arrested the accused on the strength of outstanding warrants. The accused is charged with:
- Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
- Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Mischief – Under $5,000
- Possession of Break In Instruments x2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
