On August 31, 2026, officers with the Division 2 Unit charged 25-year-old Shawn Seymour with two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and other offences.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers saw the accused, who had an outstanding warrant for their arrest, walking in the 700 block of Wellington Street East. When officers advised the accused of the warrant, the accused continued walking, removed a canister of pepper spray from their pocket, and sprayed it in the officers’ direction multiple times. They were arrested. No physical injuries were reported.
Upon searching the accused, officers located the canister of pepper spray and a concealed knife.
The accused is charged with:
- Administer Noxious Thing
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x2
- Carrying Concealed Weapon x2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x6
- Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order x3
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x2
- Resist Peace Officer
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
