Special Constables

• Searching, guarding and managing people in custody.
• Providing safety and security of people in custody.
• Serving legal documents and executing warrants and other court orders.
• Transporting people in custody to and from the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse and to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre.
• Provide assistance to police officers.
• Provide security at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse and court rooms.
• Fingerprinting and photographing people who have been criminally charged.
• Participate in Bicycle Patrols.
• Assisting with RIDE Programs.
• Assisting officers with Dynamic Patrol initiatives.
• Assisting with traffic safety at community events.

Each Special Constable will be paid according to the following pay structure.

Level 1 $30.761/hour or $63,982.88 annually

After 2,080 hours worked - Level 2 $33.436/hour or $69,546.88 annually

After 4,160 hours worked - Level 3 $36345/hour or $75,597.60 annually
